dithering.. dithering? I've seen it all the time on programs but have never found out what it means/does o.0 well obviously it does amazing! lol if you use it right probably, and you did, holy shiznit i love it
In terms of pixel art, it basically means 'shading' from one colour to the next by only using those two colours, not smooth shading. So you start at one edge with a lot of pixels from one colour, then gradually 'dither' them out so there are less and less by the time you reach the other edge. Instead of the colours actually getting lighter, you're giving the impression that they are through using more of the lighter colour. Hope this makes sense!
There are two meanings to dithering, one is to hesitate, and the other is to add white noise (usually to an audio recording to reduce distortion). I think I know what AyumiRiddle is getting at, but I don't think I could explain it properly.
For a moment I thought this was a photograph of a sunset. Then I thought, when I clicked on it, that it was a cross-stitch of a sunset. Now that I realize it's pixel art, my mind is totally blown. This is amazing! Great job on such a fantastic piece, and congratulations on the DD!
